Theme: “Overcoming Disruption, Transforming the AIDS Response”

This World AIDS Day, St. Joseph Mercy Hospital’s Patient and Family Services Clinic stand with UNAIDS in affirming that AIDS is not over. Around the world, progress remains fragile in the face of funding cuts, stigma, and other disruptions, yet communities are showing remarkable resilience and leadership in transforming the HIV response. Here at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, we see that resilience every day. More than 95% of our patients are on life-saving HIV treatment, and over 95% of them are virally suppressed. Our HIV program is the second largest in the country, and behind every number is a story of courage, perseverance, and hope. This year, as we prepare gift hampers for our patients aged 70 and older, we honor a generation that has lived through decades of stigma, loss, and health challenges, yet continues to inspire us. They remind us why it is so important to protect continuity of care and to keep building a more inclusive, people-centered HIV response.

To our generous sponsors, thank you. Your support helps us overcome disruption in practical ways, bringing comfort and joy to our elderly patients and reinforcing that they are seen and cared for. Together, we can continue to transform the AIDS response so that every person living with HIV knows they are loved, valued, and never forgotten.
