Mercy Hospital’s COVID19 Response

In responding to the current need to test and isolate Covid-19 patients, hospital has opened an Annexe at St Paul’s Retreat Center at Vryheid’s Lust, East Coast Demerara. This facility meets all required national criteria and has been licensed by Guyana’s Ministry of Public Health (MOPH).
Deputy CEO, Mrs. Deborrah Ramsay said that the hospital is keenly aware that Covid-19 testing and treatment can be overwhelming and wanted to make the hospital’s highly skilled personnel and medical resources available to help control the spread of the disease and assist those who contract it.
The Bishop of the Diocese of Georgetown, Bishop Francis Alleyne promptly joined the hospital’s cause and offered this center for the purpose. This facility is spacious and can house more than 37 beds of which 37 beds are ready to be occupied. This facility is an Annex to St Joseph Mercy Hospital and will assure that COVID-19 patients are not treated at the hospital.
The hospital has spent 20 million (GYD) to develop the center as an all-inclusive facility. According to Mrs. Ramsay, the hospital spared no effort to provide top-rated medical products, amenities, and services at the center.
Persons who have tested positive at the center and decide to be admitted they would not be required to pay for the initial test. All tests required prior to discharge will attract a fee.
